Gerondi (1200-1263) was a Spanish rabbi, and cousin of Nahmanides. His hometown was Gerona, but he lived many years in Barcelona, and spent the end of his life in Toledo, where he built a yeshiva. Much of his preaching and writing concerned ethics. Gerondi's books on ethics were widely read, in which "he protested forcefully against the many Spanish Jews who disregarded the mitzvot and against widespread sexual immorality.
