Tanboury finally saves enough money to buy new shoes but no matter what he does he can't get rid of his old ones. Shimon Ballas was born in Baghdad. For a number of years he contributed to the Egyptian and Iraqi press. At the age of twenty-one, he and his family immigrated to Israel. At first Mr. Ballas continued to write in Arabic but after a number of years he mastered Hebrew. Today he is know for his stories, articles and books written in Hebrew. Ora Eitan, one of Israel’s most promising artists, has won several important awards for illustration and design. She was born in Tel Aviv in 1940 and after finishing High School, graduated from Bezalel School of Art. (information from the dustjacket) SUBJECT(S) : Children --- folklore --- Iraq.
