This pamphlet is a biographical sketch of Harry Houdini written for the Outgamie Museum in Appleton Wisconsin. Although it is widely known that Houdini’s parents emigrated from Hungary to Appleton where he spent his childhood (his father served as Rabbi of the Zion Reform Jewish Congregation there) , there has been some controversy regarding his place of birth. While providing general biographic information this text outlines some of the claims citing both personal accounts of Houdini’s American citizenship, and the denial by some historians.
