Sefer Haredim by Azikri, Eleazar ben Moses (date publish and location unknown) , one of the great Safed Kabbalists of the late 1500s; Spiritual and ascetic manual, arranged according to the mitzvot in usage at the time and their division according to the limbs of the body and according to time. This book had a wide circulation and was printed in over 27 editions. Bound with Sefer Mehir Yayin (1865; place unknown) , a philosophical, allegorical, and kabbalistic commentary on the Book of Esther. The author, R. Moses ben Israel Isserles (Rema, c. 1530-1572) , a student of R. Shalom Shachna of Lublin (d. 1558) , among the foremost halakhic authorities, is better known for his Haggahot or ha-Mappah, glosses on the Shulhan Arukh. It was the addition of the Mappah to the Shulhan Arukh that made that work acceptable to Ashkenazim and an authoritative halakhic source to this day. Subjects: Kabbalists.
