The Melbourne Hebrew Congregation was established in 1847 at Bourke St. The Rabbi of the Congregation at the time of this annual report was Rabbi Israel Brodie, who served the Melbourne Hebrew congregation from 1923-1937, and served as Chief Rabbi of Great Britain and the Commonwealth in the post war era.
