Title translates to “Essay on the History of Geography in Palestine After the Talmud and Other Rabbinic Sources. ” Joseph Derenburg (1811 – 1895) was a Franco-German orientalist who was born in French-controlled Mainz. He played a large part in the revival of Jewish education in France. Though much of his work focused on Saadia, this essay is his most important work.
