Many of the most prominent Polish Maskilim contributed scholarly articles on a variety of topics to their highly regarded haskalah journal. Weiner 5031. Interestingly, this copy bears the stamps of Aron Faust of Crakow, a leading seller of Haskalah imprints of the period. In the memoirs of Gershom Bader and Abba Achimeir, his bookstore is described as a meeting place for avid readers and as a framework that provided intellectual stimulation and a chance to catch up on newspapers, journals and new books. "For many years, [Aron] Faust's store was the only center of Jewish culture in town ... In his store you could hear about what was new in town, glance at new books, and read Jewish press from all over the world, " Bader writes. Also includes the bookplate of Mayer Suzlberger.
