Title translates to "Dreamers of the Ghetto. ” Israel Zangwill was a prolific author and early Cultural Zionist, a close associate of Theodor Herzl, although he later rejected the idea of a Jewish state in Palestine and became a proponent of the Territorial movement. Zangwill's work earned him the nickname "the Dickens of the Ghetto". Comprised of six sections: 1. A kind fun der gheto, 2. Yosef der troyer, 3. Uriel Akosta, 4. Barukh Spinoza, 5.
