The Missionary Herald was published monthly lasted for 147 volumes, from 1805-1951, with some variation in publisher and title. This issue starts with a 7-page article on the “Palestine Mission,” including much on converting Jews in palestine, and also includes a 4-page article on the “Mission in Cylon,” 3-½ pages on work among the Cherokees, as well as shorter pieces on various topics including the “Influence of the Bible among Galley Slaves.” “The American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM) was among the first American Christian missionary organizations. It was created in 1810 by recent graduates of Williams College. In the 19th century it was the largest and most important of American missionary organizations and consisted of participants from Reformed traditions such as Presbyterians, Congregationalists, and German Reformed churches” (Wikipedia, 2019).
