He studied music in Berlin and ultimately returned to Warsaw where he was active in the Yiddish theater scene (Wikipedia, 2019). some of the songs from Kon’s larger theatrical scores are said to have become popular as “hits” in their own right in interwar Poland, and even to have been sung as quasi-folksongs in Jewish homes (Milken, 2019).
